October is pink with us - Prevention Wednesday

As part of the NFZ's weekly 'Wednesday with Prevention' campaign, on 4 October we are emphasising the importance of regular breast examinations. We make women aware of the need for regular check-ups and breast cancer prevention.

Only 37 per cent of the population of women aged between 50 and 69 covered by the breast cancer prevention programme benefited from free examinations reimbursed by the National Health Fund in 2022. From 1 November 2023, the group of women (45-74 years) who should benefit from examinations under the programme will be expanded.

October Breast Cancer Prevention Month

What are the causes of breast cancer and what skin changes should cause concern? Do overweight and obesity contribute to breast cancer?

We are supported by the expertise of an expert, Dr Roman Dubian Dubianski, a clinical oncologist from the Department of Breast Cancer and Reconstructive Surgery at the Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw.

- Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumour in women. Breast cancer is diagnosed annually in Poland in approximately 20,000 women. This is a very high number," says Dr Roman Dubianski, M.D., in an interview on the YouTube channel AcademyNFZ Breast Cancer Prevention. Do these examinations regularly. When detected early, breast cancer is curable. It is important to have regular preventive examinations and breast self-examinations.
