XXII NATIONWIDE CYSTIC FIBROSIS WEEK

MATIO FOUNDATION is organising, for the twenty-second time from 27 February to 5 March 2023, a public awareness campaign entitled "XXII National Cystic Fibrosis Week".which is entirely devoted to raising awareness of cystic fibrosis, its symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and the prospect of living longer with the disease.

Campaign slogan: "Cystic Fibrosis - Understanding".

1 March 2022, when, by decision of the Minister of Health, all causal medicines available in the world were entered  to the list of reimbursed drugs and patients were systematically qualified for the drug programme, the prospect emerged that the disease, until recently treated like a sentence, could be considered chronic. This year's edition of the National Cystic Fibrosis Week "Cystic Fibrosis - Understand", in cooperation with partners such as PFRON, SZMP, MEDGEN, schools and kindergartens throughout Poland, wants to bring this rare disease and the current situation of cystic fibrosis patients in Poland closer to the public.

The application of treatment with CFTR Modulators has become a turning point in the treatment of patients affected by cystic fibrosis. The therapy offers patients the chance for a significant prolongation of life and improvement in its quality. We can therefore speak of a revolution in the treatment of cystic fibrosis in Poland. The XXII OTM Campaign wants to show the public the current situation of cystic fibrosis patients in Poland at all stages of life, the quality of which should be much better in the near future. This knowledge will allow the average person to understand, at least to a minimum extent, this invisible disability and the problems that arise for patients on the way to achieving the so-called "normality of life", so obvious for a healthy person.
