First Health Campus for NGOs

On 13-15 September 2018, the first 'Health Campus' organised as part of the 'Network for Health' project for patient organisations took place in the beautiful forest setting of the Las Woda Recreation and Business Park in Wilga. The aim of the Network for Health programme is to strengthen the role of foundations and associations, integrate the environment and inform about important initiatives and events related to health care in Poland and the European Union. The intention of the project's organisers is to strengthen the competences of leaders and employees of patient organisations, inspire them to undertake new activities, and create an interesting platform for exchanging experiences and bringing together people involved in activities for the benefit of health and well-being of patients. The first day included a lecture on social media, building messages online, the issue of paid publications on Facebook, the specifics of Instagram and the growing popularity of Twitter. Participants learned which social media channel is best to use in the organisation's activities, and how to handle them. Interested parties benefited from additional consultations, particularly on setting up and running Twitter. The lecture was hosted by Aleksandra and Piotr Stanislawski, author of one of the most widely read popular science blogs Crazy Science and also science journalists by vocation. Also on the first day Patrycja Rzucidło-Zając - communication and image expert -  addressed the topic of the reputation of an NGO and the elements of an organisation's image. She touched, among other things, on the transparency of activities, communication with the media and the principles of designing a logo or a website. On the second day, the participants of the "Health Campus" had the opportunity to take part in two extremely interesting workshops. Divided into two groups, they practised the principles of communication. The art of establishing contact with the organisation's partners, stress management and conscious listening was introduced by Judy Turan - actress and coach. This workshop also consisted of a practical part, which was additionally digitally recorded so that each participant could see how he or she performed in conversations with partners. The art of intra-organisational communication and organisational management, on the other hand, was presented by the Katarzyna Korpolewska - psychologist.  The theme of the last day of the 'Health Campus' was fundraising. The idea and practical application of crowdfunding was introduced by the Bartosz Tomasz Malinowski of We The Crowd.
