#ONKOTAXI #DRUGAFALA or cancer patients will reach treatment by taxi

In response to the next wave of the COVID-19 outbreak and the alarming statistics, the action is being launched #ONKOTAXI #DRUGAFALA. It will enable patients to safely reach medical centres by taxis, which are free of charge for them.

Oncology patients have limited access to testing and treatment. At the same time, they are a group particularly vulnerable to coronavirus infection. They should exercise increased caution in their contact with others and avoid public transport. In such a situation, many patients are faced with a dramatic question: how can they safely get to the, now so difficult to access, tests, treatment or surgery? The Alivia Oncology Foundation is once again making it possible for patients to reach medical centres safely by means of free taxis.

The Foundation wants to give patients the confidence that their transport to treatment will be safe. That is why every taxi used for the campaign is disinfected and the drivers strictly observe hygiene rules. In the first edition of #ONKOTAXI, more than 2,250 people were able to get to safety.

How to use #ONKOTAXI? Anyone suffering from malignant cancer can make a request for transport to and from a treatment centre, hospital or clinic across the country. Simply complete and submit the form available at alivia.org.pl/onkotaxi. A medical document confirming the diagnosis must be added to the application. Once your application has been verified, the cost of travel will be paid by the Foundation. If you have any questions Alivia encourages you to contact onkotaxi@alivia.org.pl.

Alivia has also set up a dedicated helpline for people without internet access - 22 100 51 60. The Foundation asks people to use the website first and not to overload the helpline. The telephone number is dedicated to elderly people without access to the internetso that they too can report the need for a ride. Foundation staff will then suggest how to use the service.

The campaign will continue until funds run out and would not have been possible without the generous support of donors. ONKOTAXI was able to take off again thanks to Bristol Myers Squibb and Janssen Cilag Polska. Strategic support was also provided by Roche. The campaign is also partnered by Abbvie Polska, Pierre Fabre Médicament Polska, Servier Poland and the BNP Paribas Foundation.
