Health on the internet

In the digital age, the internet has become a major source of information on virtually every topic, including health. This section of the survey focuses on how respondents use and trust the health resources available online. Among other things, they were asked about where online they look for reliable health information, whether they use forums or social media for advice on symptoms, and to what extent they trust information provided by well-known people online.

Online health discussions are ubiquitous and easily accessible, but the quality of this information can vary. Respondents were asked whether they ever forgo treatment based on information found online, whether they discuss online health information obtained from a doctor with others, and whether they trust and follow advice given by celebrities and influencers in the context of health.

The extent to which patients are aware of the availability of preventive programmes and referral options for free examinations is assessed. In addition, respondents have the opportunity to express whether they regularly remind their relatives of the need to participate in preventive examinations.

A key question in this section also examines whether family doctors (GPs) adequately inform patients about the preventive programmes available and whether they are able to coordinate patient care in collaboration with specialists. The final question focuses on the problem of difficulties in accessing specialists and whether this problem is addressed by the GP who coordinates the patient's health care.
