Are you eating healthily? Children learn by imitation.

The good example set by parents is the most important in forming good eating habits in children. The development of a child's taste preferences begins in the womb. It is here that the child is introduced to the first tastes. The second important stage is early childhood.

The correct nutrition of a child has an impact on the development of, for example, the skeletal and nervous systems. It reduces the likelihood of cancer and obesity in later life.

Today in the series "Prevention Wednesday" is about forming eating habits from an early age.

Studies show that Polish children eat too little vegetables, fruit and milk products. The youngest, just after the age of one, drink excessively colourful and sweetened drinks.

What a shell is made of...

"It is often the case that children, so-called 'bad eaters', are given sweet drinks and juices between meals, which after all contain sugars and have a calorific value. When expanding the diet, we do not give children sweet drinks to drink. The child should drink water from an early age, at least 1-1.5 litres a day". - says Dr. n. med. Monika Kowalczuk-Krystoń from the Department of Paediatrics, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Nutrition and Allergology at the University Children's Clinical Hospital in Bialystok.

In the prepared material, the expert provides answers to questions such as:

  • how does nutrition affect child development?
  • what it is and how overcoming neophobia in your child?
  • how to deal with a bad eater?
  • how to persuade children to eat healthily?

The film is available on the channel YouTube NFZ Academy and on FB NFZ Academy.
