Webinar launching the "All for Saving Sight" project

The organisers cordially invite you to attend the webinar launching the 'All for Saving Sight' project, which will take place on 11 March 2021 at 11:00 am.

This project is being implemented from 1 February 2021 by the Retina AMD Poland association with a grant from the Active Citizens National Fund programme, funded by the EEA Funds.

It aims to improve access to modern diagnostics for rare genetically determined retinal disorders and future innovative therapies.

This is an extremely important issue for all of us losing our sight due to these conditions.

Until last year, these diseases were considered incurable and no need for molecular diagnostics was seen.

In 2019, a worldwide breakthrough has been made - the first gene therapy has been registered to reverse the disease process taking place in the retinal cells, thus not only halting the process of vision loss, but even restoring vision. It is prepared for a strictly defined group of patients with the RPE 65 gene mutation.

The approval of the first gene therapy changes the situation completely. Today, sick children and sick young people already have a different perspective because promising research into further therapies is being carried out in many parts of the world.

Thus, access to genetic diagnosis is becoming a major challenge for Polish ophthalmology and for us patients.

In order to save the younger generation from impending blindness, we must join forces and start asserting their right to diagnosis, treatment and a dignified, active life. This is what the "All for Saving Sight" project aims to help us do.
