Following the appeal of the Trade Unions representing the Healthcare Industry and the Health Professions Self-Governments of 01 July 2021 regarding the dismissal of the Minister of Health from his position, the community of more than 200 patient organisations affiliated to Coalitions, Federations and institutions working for the benefit of the patient feels a moral obligation to express its voice on the above matter.
1 We do not refer to and do not wish to evaluate the dialogue between the Minister of Health and the signatories of the appeal. However, it is impossible to agree with the narrative adopted in the appeal, which links the good of the patient with the fulfilment of the expectations of the professional community requesting the dismissal of the Minister of Health. There is a definite difference in the criteria adopted for assessing what is good and beneficial for the patient from the point of view of the trade unions and professional associations. For this reason, among others, we cannot agree with the opinion expressed in the appeal that the Minister of Health's taking action on matters important for the system ends in a great loss for the Polish Patient.
2 The patient organisation community positively assesses the dialogue conducted by the Minister of Health with patients both institutionally and through individual meetings with representatives of individual organisations, noting also areas where this cooperation can be intensified.
3 It is gratifying to observe that many of the problems and expectations signalled by organisations regarding specific solutions aimed at increasing the quality of life in illness are understood by the Minister of Health in the organisational and legislative initiatives undertaken.
4. the fact that the Minister of Health has created conditions for the active participation of the patient environment in the development of systemic solutions in health care deserves positive attention.
With these arguments, we would like to express our confidence in the actions of the Minister of Health aimed at meeting the needs and expectations raised by patients' organisations. Thus, we address a request and appeal to the Prime Minister to enable the Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski to continue his mission for the good of the patient in his current position.
