Under the direction of Bartłomiej Chmielowiec, Ombudsman for Patients' Rights, a report summarising the last years of operation of the Patients' Rights Ombudsman helpline was prepared with the participation of experts. The report identifies areas where there may be violations of patients' rights and standards of healthcare provision. It also identified elements of the health care system in need of further improvement and change.
The national toll-free Patient Ombudsman helpline has been in operation for 12 years. Its aim is to provide information and support to patients. Between 2014 and 2019, the experts on duty at the helpline received 304,580 calls from patients. The calls most often concerned the exercise of a basic patient right, i.e. the right to healthcare services.
The report, together with detailed information on the most frequently violated patient rights, can be found at Ombudsman for Patients - The full report can be found in the file at the bottom of the Ombudsman's website.
