Registration has started! Join us for the 17th Oncourse - Together for Health!

Continuously since 2008, the Sarcoma Association invites you to the 17th Oncology Run - Together for Health! and while inviting you - at the same time it asks the question - who will you run for this year?

- Over the years, a huge motivation for the Onk Run has been the stories of the people we meet in the oncology wards, but also on the run route. Our motivation is their motivation to live. It is often reciprocal, which is how we have operated for years - says Kamil Dolecki, organiser, president of the Sarcoma Association.

The 17th Oncourse - Together for Health! will take place on 8 September 2024. The main run will invariably take place at the National Cancer Institute in Warsaw, where it all began. A studio will also be set up there, from where the emotions of the participants, interviews with doctors, specialists and patients will be reported live. All this is to raise awareness and engage the public in physical activity and education about prevention.

The Oncourse is no ordinary running event: it is a manifesto of health, support
and community, inspired not only by the pursuit of wellbeing, but also by a deep empathy and solidarity -
This is what Szymon Bubiłek, organiser and vice-president of the board of the Sarcoma Association, says about the project.

Oncology run starts 8 September 2024 at the National Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. Accompanying runs are also being organised once again - in Starachowice, hosted by the Powiatowy Zakład Opieki Zdrowotnej, and Szczodrom, in cooperation with the Dolnośląskie Oncology Centre, respectively. Those who do not have the opportunity to take part in the main run in Warsaw or in the accompanying runs can run in any place on earth of their choice - as part of the so-called virtual run. It is important to close the distance declared during the hourly activity between 7:00 - 12:00.

All at 11:00 we will run under the slogan "Together for health!" reminding us that even in our most difficult moments we are not alone. This slogan is also a promise that together, hand in hand, we can face the challenges posed by oncological disease- points out Szymon Bubiłek - organiser, vice-president of the board of the Sarcoma Association.

Registration for the run takes place exclusively at www.onkobieg.pl and will run from 28 May to 5 August or until packages run out.

The slogan of this year's Onk Run - 'I'm running for you' - can be interpreted in different ways. Every year, it is attended by oncology patients, their families, friends, but also by people whose loved one has been taken away by cancer. There is also no shortage of doctors and people who want to combine pleasure with utility at the start line. By covering the kilometres, they take care of their own health and that of others. The funds raised enable direct support of the charges of the Sarcoma Association, e.g. by financing prosthetic limbs lost due to cancer, the cost of patients' travel to hospitals and providing them with psycho-oncological support, but not only. With these funds, the association is able to influence the improvement of healthcare, for example by equipping hospitals with the necessary medical equipment and funding training for future oncologists. The funds raised are also used for educational campaigns on cancer prevention.

Detailed information on how to register for the 17th Oncourse is available at www.onkobieg.pl

Every year since 2008, The Polish Sarcoma and Melanoma Patients Association has been inviting people to take part in Oncrun - Together for Health! This year, our seventeenth year, we're again inviting you to take part, and we're also asking the question: who will you be running for this year?

'For years now, an enormous motivating factor in staging the event has been the stories of the people we meet, not only in the oncology wards, but also during the event itself. Our motivation is their motivation for life. Often it is mutual; we've been working this way for years.' So says Kamil Dolecki, Organiser and President of Polish Sarcoma and Melanoma Patients Association

The seventeenth Oncorun - Together for Health! will be taking place on 8 September 2024. The main event will, as usual, be held in the place where it all began, at the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. A studio will also be set up there, from where the emotions and feelings of the participants, conversations and interviews with doctors, specialists and patients will all be reported live, the purpose being to raise awareness and encourage the general public to engage in physical activity, and in order to promote education about cancer prevention. 'Oncorun is not just a running event: it is a manifesto of health, support and community, inspired, not only by the pursuit of well-being, but also by deep empathy and solidarity.' This is how Szymon Bubiłek, Organiser and Vice-president of the board of the Sarcoma Association, views the project.

Oncorun will begin on 8 September 2024 at the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology in Warsaw. Accompanying runs are also being organised, in Starachowice, hosted by the District Health Care Facility, and in Generous, in cooperation with the Lower Silesian Oncology Centre, respectively. Those who do not have the opportunity to take part in the main run in Warsaw or in the accompanying events, can still join us from anywhere in the world, by signing up for the so-called virtual run. It is important that participants complete their pre-declared distance during a sixty-minute period of activity, between 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.

'At 11:00 a.m., we will all begin running under the banner: 'Together for Health!', reminding us that even in the most difficult moments we are not alone. This slogan is also a promise that together, hand in hand, we can meet the challenges of cancer head on,'. points out Szymon Bubiłek, Organiser and Vice-president of the Sarcoma Association.

Registration for the event will take place only via the website www.onkobieg.pl and will run from 28 May to 5 August, or until start packs run out.

The slogan of this year's Oncorun, 'I'm running for you', can be interpreted in different ways. Every year this event is attended, not only by cancer patients and their families and friends, but also by people whose loved ones have been taken away by cancer. At the start line there will be no shortage of doctors and people who want to combine business with pleasure. By completing their distance they are taking care of both their own health and the health of others. The funds raised enable the Polish Sarcoma and Melanoma Patients Association to provide, amongst other things, the purchase of prosthetic limbs to replace those lost due to cancer, patients' travel costs to and from hospitals, and also ongoing psycho-oncological support; but this is not all. With these funds, the Association is able to impact the development of healthcare, for example by equipping hospitals with the necessary medical equipment and by funding training for future cancer specialists. The funds raised are also used for educational purposes, to raise awareness around cancer prevention.
