On 20 July 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the facilities of the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw, the 1st edition of the International Football Championship "ONKO LIGA 2019" will begin. Children and adolescents with cancer from all cancer centres in Poland, as well as young oncology patients from Ukraine, Lithuania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Turkey, will take part in a football tournament in various age categories. Special cups donated by the event's Patron, the Polish Football Association, await the teams. The event will be accompanied by a special artistic programme and attractions for families
- "The ONKO LIGA is the first and only such Championship for oncology patients in the world. It is not only a sporting competition, but also great fun and shared joy in overcoming the disease - says Tomasz Osuch, president of the Fulfilled Dreams Foundation, initiator and organiser of the 'ONKO LIGA'.
The first edition of the ONKO LIGA was co-financed and held under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (project co-financed as part of the competition: 'Public Diplomacy 2019'), the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, the Office of Sport and Tourism of the City of Warsaw. Honorary patronages were granted by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, the President of Warsaw, the Minister of Health, the Marshal of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship, the Polish Football Association, the Polish Olympic Committee and the Ambassadors of the Czech Republic, Lithuania and Ukraine. The event is organised in partnership with the PZU Foundation and the Lotto Foundation.
"ONKO LIGA 2019" will be hosted by well-known and well-liked TV presenters and sports commentators. In support of the "ONKO-LIGA", many Polish celebrities have decided to take part in the event. Among them, among others: Szymon Majewski, Conrado Moreno, Tomasz Ciachorowski, Marta Manowska and Karolina Pilarczyk.
