The Center of Value Based Healthcare of Lazarski University, appreciating the growing involvement of Patient Organisations in systemic healthcare topics and aiming to support the transformation of the healthcare sector in Poland towards patient-centred healthcare and health outcomes, is organising on 31 January 2020 the first educational conference designed for leaders and members of Patient Organisations dedicated entirely to the topic of VBHC entitled: The Road Towards a Value Based Healthcare System. The Place and Role of Patient Organisations.
The transition to a health care model based on rewarding treatment outcomes will not take place immediately. The success of the implementation depends on the dissemination of basic knowledge among the key stakeholders of the health care market in Poland, including Patient Organisations. Only then will it be possible to move on to collaboration and dialogue between communities.
Patients' Organisations have an important role from the VBHC concept being not only a representative and advocate of patients' interests, but also an equal partner in the development of basic tools for assessing the effectiveness of health services.
The conference will address topics including:
- The role of the Value Based Healthcare concept in a modern healthcare system
- The role of individual stakeholders, in particular patient organisations, in the development of a health value-based model of care
- The role of drug and non-drug technology providers in creating the health value chain
- Basic system constraints in paying for the health effect
- Invited international experts from Catharina Hospital in the Netherlands and Martini-Klinik in Hamburg will present case studies of successful implementations of the value-based patient care model
The conference was held under the patronage of the Patient Ombudsman and the National Health Fund. Media partners of the event are the Institute for Patient Rights and Health Education, Medexpress, Rynek Zdrowia and portal mZdrowie.pl.
