Women's health in Poland is gaining important support thanks to the next edition of the 'Grant for Health' competition, organised by Gedeon Richter Polska in cooperation with the Institute for Patient Rights and Health Education. The 5th edition of the programme has been launched, under which two winning organisations will receive grants of PLN 20,000 for the implementation of their projects that will contribute to improving the quality of life of Polish women. Applications can be sent until 22.12.2024, and the results will be announced at the final gala of the Competition during the Patients' Organisations Forum on 10 February 2025.
A valuable idea
Women still face numerous health challenges and access to sound health education and support is not always sufficient. The Health Grant competition responds to these needs by supporting projects in areas such as gynaecology, endocrinology, cardiovascular diseases or the central nervous system.
- Patient organisations know best what kind of support their patients want. By organising the Health Grant competition, we can be closer to patients, supporting them in their daily lives and struggles on the road to health - says Aneta Grzegorzewska, Director of the Corporate and External Relations Division of Gedeon Richter Polska. - At Gedeon Richter, we recognise that therapeutic success is not only based on the quality of the medicines. Of great importance is the time of detection of the disease, the patient's awareness of the course of therapy and living with the disease - Grzegorzewska adds.
We are proud to once again announce the 'Grant for Health' competition. This is an initiative that enables us to provide real support to patient organisations in their efforts to improve the quality of life for women in Poland. We believe that through this edition it will be possible to further raise health awareness and promote important treatment standards - emphasises Igor Grzesiak, Vice President of the Institute for Patients' Rights and Health Education.
Winning projects that change lives
Previous editions of the 'Grant for Health' competition have attracted a great deal of interest from patient organisations and attracted many inspiring proposals. The best ones, such as the "Cardiomama" project of the Children's Heart Foundation, which was awarded in the fourth edition, can be implemented thanks to the funds won and have a direct impact on the lives of Polish patients. The first activities of the initiative have already begun. Women with congenital heart defects who want to become pregnant can benefit from information on safe pregnancy planning and transition gathered on a dedicated website. The Foundation is in the process of preparing a guidebook, educational videos and planning a webinar with a specialist to raise awareness of the challenges faced by women with WWS.
- The grant has allowed us to create a space of support and education for our female patients, which has been very positively received. We encourage other organisations to submit their projects and take advantage of this unique opportunity - says Katarzyna Parafianowicz, CEO of the Children's Heart Foundation.
The second of the initiatives awarded in the last edition of the competition, 'O_price of trust', was launched in November this year. The Ronić po ludzku Foundation, the project's originator, encourages women who have experienced a stillbirth or miscarriage to anonymously share their experiences of hospitalisation related to it. The results collected will allow the quality of perinatal care in Poland to be assessed.
How do I submit my project?
Organisations can apply for up to two projects planned for implementation in 2025. Application forms are available on the Gedeon Richter Polska website and the deadline for applications is 22 December 2024. The results of the competition will be announced on 10 February 2025 during the final gala at the Patient Organisations Forum.
