Women's health. First visit to the gynaecologist

Women's Day at the National Health Fund continues throughout the week. From 6 to 10 March, ladies are invited to the branches in each province. Many preventive surprises have been prepared, such as measurements of body composition and weight, blood pressure at the prevention kiosk, workshops on breast self-examination, a tailored nutrition plan and a package of information on recommended prevention programmes.

As part of today's 'Wednesdays with Prevention' - an educational action by the National Health Fund, there will be a talk with an expert about a young woman's first visit to a gynaecologist.

Poland has one of the highest incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in Europe.

Women's health

The first visit is primarily educational. It is supposed to be a source of knowledge. It should teach the patient that visits to the gynaecologist are prophylactic, prevent cancer - says in the video Dr Monika Tadros-Zins, specialist gynaecologist-obstetrician from the Polish Mother's Memorial Health Institute.

  • When to take my daughter to her first visit to the gynaecologist?
  • How does the first examination in girls proceed?
  • What are the rights of a minor patient?

- Usually the first visit involves a lot of stress for the girl. It should be carried out in a pleasant atmosphere and with trust. Its course can influence the patient's future life," adds Dr. Monika Tadros-Zins, MD.
