To be in time for colorectal cancer

Colorectal cancer is the third most common malignant tumour in the Polish population, in both men and women. Approximately 18 000 people develop it annually in Poland.

It develops over a long period of time, even over several years, and may not produce any symptoms.

Prevention of colorectal cancer is estimated to reduce colorectal cancer mortality by 50-60%.

Colorectal cancer - risk factors, treatment, prevention This is the topic of today's "Wednesday with Prevention" - an educational action by the National Health Fund.

Colorectal cancer is a cancer that occurs at the end of the gastrointestinal tract. It develops slowly, from benign lesions - so-called polyps - which are pre-cancerous lesions.

Polyps can be easily removed, preventing the development of the disease. This is why early detection of the disease is so important.

Colonoscopy. A life-saving examination.

The risk of developing cancer increases after the age of 50.

What increases the risk of colorectal cancer?

What symptoms should prompt you to visit your doctor?

How can the disease be prevented and why is it worth having a colonoscopy?

These questions will be answered dr. Mateusz Jęckowski, specialist in general surgery.
