Another edition of the educational campaign "ProstaTaHistoria" is launched

The next edition of the 'ProstaTaHistory' educational campaign is being launched by the OnkoCafe Foundation - Together Better. "This year we are coming to your cities to meet with prostate and prostate cancer patients and their relatives. We will be accompanied by an oncologist who will help patients to better understand the nature of prostate cancer and talk about effective treatments for the disease," - inform representatives of the Foundation.

The first meeting with an oncologist will already take place on 15 June at the Silesian Mazovia Urology Hospital at 9 Strzelecka St. From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Dr Adrianna Stryczyńska-Mirocha, M.D., will be waiting for patients and their relatives.

You can sign up for the meeting by phone at 537 888 789, email: sekretariat@onkocafe.pl, by form.

Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers among men. Fortunately, when detected early, the disease can be almost completely curable.

Most patients with prostatic proliferation or suspected prostate cancer are referred to a urologist, who makes decisions about further diagnosis and possible treatment. However, it is worth remembering that the therapeutic pathway of an oncology patient should be decided during a multispecialist consilium. In the case of prostate cancer patients, not only the urologist, but also the oncologist, radiotherapist and other specialists are involved in the consilium, depending on the patient's clinical situation.

Although decision-making for a prostate cancer patient during a multi-specialist consilium should be the gold standard, it still happens that patients have limited access to an oncologist, especially at the beginning of the diagnostic and therapeutic pathway.

The OnkoCafe Foundation, which has been running the 'ProstaTaHistoria' campaign for years, seeing the problem of access to oncological care for prostate cancer patients, organises meetings with an oncologist throughout Poland.

Meetings will be held in selected cities: Bydgoszcz, Katowice, Wrocław, Gniezno, Warsaw, Gdańsk, Zakopane, Lublin, Nowy Targ, Tarnow. "Individual free consultations are a great opportunity to consult the results of tests, to get a second opinion from a specialist, which every patient is entitled to. At our stand, in each city, there will also be educators who will explain what the oncologist's role is in diagnosing and treating prostate cancer. We would also like to point out that not all prostate cancer patients can be successfully treated with radical surgery or radiotherapy. Some patients with metastatic and castration-resistant prostate cancer will require systemic treatment, and in this situation the role of the oncologist is invaluable," says Anna Kupiecka, president of the OnkoCafe - Together Better Foundation.
