Spirometry Days 2018 - free examinations nationwide

Spirometry Days 2018, the main element of which is a campaign of free lung tests across Poland, will take place from 1-6 October. 245 health facilities have signed up for the campaign - you can find a list of them by voivodeship on the website of the Polish Federation of Asthma, Allergy and COPD Associations - go to list The spirometric lung examination is completely non-invasive and takes just a few minutes. The result is available immediately on the spot. If airflow abnormalities through the respiratory system are detected, the person examined will receive a letter to his or her doctor requesting further diagnosis. - People who cough or have shortness of breath, especially during physical exertion, are encouraged to have spirometry. In Poland, more than 6 million patients suffer from asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and only half know they have the disease. A spirometric test helps to make a proper diagnosis before irreversible complications occur, sometimes leading to premature death,' says Piotr Dąbrowiecki, MD, medical doctor, leader of the Spirometry Days campaign. World Spirometry Days are organised in Poland for the ninth time. Their aim is to draw attention to respiratory health problems resulting, among other things, from air pollution by smog. The strategic partner of Spirometry Days 2018 is Aviva, the insurance group that runs the social programme "I know what I breathe".
