"SEPSA - VISION OF THE FUTURE" invitation to seminar

Sepsis is the world's 3rd-4th cause of death, in the US it accounts for a mortality rate greater than the cumulative number of
deaths of the 3 most common cancers combined. Most cases of sepsis develop outside the hospital and 40%
patients are children < 5 years of age. We do not have data on incidence, treatment outcomes, costs
direct and distant sepsis in Poland. Despite the fact that all therapies required by sepsis patients are
reimbursed there are systemic barriers - poor diagnostics in pre-hospital and in-hospital settings
Emergency Departments (ED) and the frequent failure to initiate antibiotic therapy in the ED, delays access to
effective treatment. - Konstanty Szułdrzyński, MD, PhD, National Medical Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration.

On World Sepsis Day, the Urszula Jaworska Foundation and the National Medical Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration in the
Warsaw invite you to the seminar "SEPSA - a vision for the future" for doctors, student nurses and
patients. The main objectives of the event are to raise awareness among the public and health care professionals
on what sepsis is, how to recognise it quickly and treat it appropriately, highlighting the actions of the
prophylactic measures in the area of sepsis, such as appropriate immunisation and attention to
the need for changes in the entire health care system by, among other things, creating a system of
organisation to effectively treat people at risk of severe infection,
organ dysfunction, a stay in the Intensive Care Unit and death.
