Oncological map of Poland

Most people die of cancer in the 'green' voivodeships of Kujawsko-Pomorskie and Warmińsko-Mazurskie, and the least in the also 'green' Podkarpackie. A significant factor influencing such mortality in Poland appears to be tobacco addiction.

The report "Health situation of the Polish population and its determinants" shows that in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship, mortality due to cancer is 30 per cent higher than in Podkarpacie. But the prevalence of tobacco addiction in Podkarpacie is the lowest in all of Poland (23.1 per cent of men and 10 per cent of women smoke there), while in Warmia and Mazury it is over 34.1 per cent of men and over 22 per cent of women, and in Kujawsko-Pomorskie it is 30 per cent and over 22 per cent respectively.

Malignant tumours are the second cause of death in Poland. They are the biggest threat among Poles aged 45-69. In 2014, more than 95,000 people died from malignant tumours in Poland.

The report shows that, compared to previous years, mortality due to them is decreasing in all provinces.
