Nutrition in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) - explanations, tips, recipes

On the portal diet.nfz.gov.pl a new e-book has been published "NUTRITION IN IRRITABLE BOWEL SYNDROME IBS - explanations, advice, recipes'.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disease of young adults, with one in two patients reporting their first symptoms of IBS before the age of 35. It is estimated that IBS may affect approximately 7% adults in Europe and approximately 13% in Poland. IBS is slightly more commonly diagnosed in women.

Even 80% people with irritable bowel syndrome link the occurrence of symptoms of this disease to diet. By modifying lifestyle and diet appropriately, it is possible to achieve alleviation and sometimes even cessation of symptoms for a prolonged period of time, thereby improving daily life comfort and well-being.

The therapy e-book is posted for free download at NFZ Diet Portal.

The theoretical part of the e-book succinctly presents basic data about the disease, its diagnosis, treatment and symptom relief. It also presents information on dietary strategies that can help with irritable bowel syndrome. In the practical part, there are food ideas that can be part of the diet of a person with IBS and, combined with theoretical knowledge, can be a source of inspiration for composing one's own meals.
