November is Men's Cancer Awareness Month all over the world. To mark the occasion, as part of the #ProstaTaHistory campaign, the OnkoCafe Foundation has prepared a series of videos with specialists for you.
Every man over the age of 50, and even earlier after 40 if he has a family history of prostate cancer or female breast cancer, should be examined regularly by a prostate specialist. A visit to the urologist looks similar to visits to other specialists. Initially, the doctor takes a history with the patient, then performs an ultrasound examination and a perrectum examination. The doctor may also order an additional test for the man - the PSA, which is a marker for prostate cancer. A check-up with the urologist should be performed once a year. Only regular check-ups can detect prostate cancer at an early stage. This is important, because early diagnosis means an almost 100 per cent chance of a complete cure for prostate cancer.
Visit the YouTube channel for a playlist of "SimpleTaHistory - prostate cancer prevention and treatment". you will find eight films with specialists on diagnosis, systemic treatment, surgical treatment, radiotherapy and emotional support.
