New opportunity for patients in rare disease diagnosis - Saventic Foundation launches

Saventic Foundation launches. A group of rare disease experts, with the support of artificial intelligence, are joining forces to support patients with faster diagnosis of rare conditions. This is new hope for people who, despite the efforts of doctors, have been waiting for months or years for a diagnosis to be made and treatment to begin.

From now on, any patient with a suspected rare disease who is actively seeking a diagnosis can use the application on the Foundation's website. Completing the form and attaching medical data increases his or her chances of a correct diagnosis. The use of the web application prepared by the Foundation is completely free of charge.

The Foundation's innovation lies in the use of artificial intelligence algorithms and the involvement of a panel of experts to analyse the patient's case. Based on information provided by patients, the algorithms used are able to determine the risk of a rare disease from the catalogue of conditions the Foundation currently deals with. We plan to regularly expand the scope of the Foundation's activities to include new disease entities," says Szymon Piątkowski - one of the founders of the Foundation.

How does the Foundation's web-based App work?

Any patient for whom a diagnosis has not been made despite the presence of a number of symptoms can use the Foundation's Application on the website to provide information on their condition, the diagnostic process and their current symptoms. Through the website, it is possible to attach all available medical data such as test results, hospital discharges, etc. The information provided is then analysed by the Foundation. The information provided is then analysed by artificial intelligence algorithms. The data of patients identified as being at risk of any of the rare diseases dealt with by the Foundation are then sent to an expert consilium. Following the consultation, the Foundation's coordinator contacts patients identified as being at high risk of a specific rare disease and provides information on the recommended centre and/or specialist for a complete diagnosis.

About the Saventic Foundation

The Saventic Foundation was created by Saventic Health, a group of specialists developing artificial intelligence algorithms to support doctors in the diagnosis of rare diseases.

The Foundation's web application is a response to the need of patients with worrying symptoms or abnormal results, who are looking for their cause, but nevertheless remain undiagnosed. The proposed solution can, at this stage, accelerate the diagnosis of metabolic diseases - the so-called 'storage diseases'.The aim of the Foundation is not only to accelerate the diagnosis, but also to guide the patient to find the right centre or specialist, says Professor Grzegorz Basak, another co-founder of the Saventic Foundation.

The main objectives of the newly established Foundation include:

● accelerating the diagnosis of patients for rare diseases,

● support patients in finding the right specialist or medical centre specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of patients' suspected rare diseases,

● development of innovative technologies to support the diagnosis of rare diseases, including expert algorithms based on artificial intelligence.
