Is it possible to be active when suffering from psoriasis and atopic dermatitis?

"Amicus" - Psoriasis and AD Foundation is launching the #atopsoACTIV campaign . People with psoriasis and AD will meet on 13 June at 1pm in the Royal Lazienki Park in Warsaw to learn together with Exercise is Medicine the principles of physical activity while suffering from a chronic disease.

Classes as part of the "Measure your blood pressure before exercise" campaign will be conducted by Anna Plucik-Mrożek, M.D., and Małgorzata Perl, M.D., from Exercise is Medicine.

People with psoriasis and AD very often experience stigma, which discourages them from active physical activity. Another reason is the extensive skin lesions in some cases. However, the undeniable impact of physical activity on our health also proves to be very significant in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, among other comorbidities.

Here are some of the benefits of regular physical activity cited by Anna Plucik-Mrożek, M.D., and Małgorzata Perl, M.D., in their book entitled. 'Physical activity in chronic diseases':

- reduction in resting and exercise heart rate

- beneficial modification of lipid profile - reduction in anxiety and depressive states

- reduction of excessive psycho-emotional stress I important note

- Measure your blood pressure before class - if it is above 200/115 mmHg you should not start exercising.

The #atopsoACTIV campaign has been supported by Exercise is Medicine and the Union of Psoriasis and Psoriasis Associations. The Foundation will announce the other partners and activities that will be undertaken as part of the campaign in the near future. More information can be found at  www.luszczyca.edu.pl

The event is free of charge.
