Invitation to the 3rd National Medical Law Congress

The Center for European Studies and the Center for American Studies invite you to participate in the 3rd National Medical Law Congress, which will take place on Saturday 20 July 2024 between 9:00 and 16:30 in an online format on the Microsoft Teams platform.

The length of the Congress depends on the number of speakers. In case of a high number of registrations, the possibility is reserved to extend the Congress also to Sunday 21 July 2024.

The main objective of the Congress is to discuss medical law in its broadest sense, both from a historical and contemporary perspective.

Issues of medical law of a national (Polish law), European and international nature will be addressed. We will also approach issues of medical law from the theoretical and doctrinal side.

Suggestions for addressing the problems discussed and conceptualising their upcoming solutions are encouraged.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐞 (𝐩𝐫𝐳𝐲𝐤ł𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐞) 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐳𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐲𝐜𝐳𝐧𝐞:
- the development of telemedicine in an era of pandemics
- liability for medical error
- medical confidentiality
- lack of a legal definition of medical error in the Polish legal system
- state responsibility for health
- surgery without the patient's consent
- medical experiment
- violation of patients' rights
- acting without the patient's consent
- pro futuro statement of intent
- the doctor's contact with the media
- the good samaritan clause
- conscience clause
- NFZ and other countries' systems
- and much more!

The thematic areas indicated above are examples only - the organisers strongly encourage you to go beyond them. In addition, the presentations may be interdisciplinary, combining various fields of science. Original and unusual presentations will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.

ACTIVE PARTICIPATION (SPEAKERS)
Steps necessary for an active participant to register for the congress:

  1. Post an abstract (200-300 words) and complete the active participation form at: https://forms.gle/p2pDiwDf3RA4CiLa7

2. register via the above form by 23.59 on 9 July 2024 (𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝘇𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝘇𝗲𝗱ł𝘂𝘇̇𝗼𝗻𝘆).

The organisers reserve the right to select abstracts.
The results of the call for abstracts will be announced by 10 July 2024.

3. pay the congress fee to the bank account number that will be communicated to qualified speakers in an email - the fee must be paid no later than 12 July 2024.

PASSIVE PARTICIPATION
Steps necessary for a passive participant to register for the congress:

  1. Fill in the passive participation form located at:

2. registration through the above form should be made by 11.59 p.m. on 13 July 2024. Failure to fill in the form will result in your inability to participate in the congress (and thus to receive a certificate).

3. pay the passive participation fee to the bank account number that will be provided to participants in the email. The fee must be paid no later than 16 July 2024 (we do not expect a 'blind' fee; 𝗯𝗲̨𝗱𝗮̨ 𝗺𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗶 𝗣𝗮𝗻́𝘀𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘇̇𝗹𝗶𝘄𝗼𝘀́𝗰́ 𝘇𝗮𝗽𝗼𝘇𝗻𝗮𝗰́ 𝘀𝗶𝗲̨ 𝘀𝗶𝗲̨ 𝘇 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗺 𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗷𝗶 𝗽𝗿𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗶𝘀𝘇𝗰𝘇𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗲𝗺 𝗼𝗽ł𝗮𝘁𝘆 - a schedule with a full list of speakers and their talk titles will be made available by email).

➤ ACTIVE PARTICIPANTS (PRELEGEES) - 2 options:
- PLN 159 - digital certificate delivered by email (a digital certificate bearing the electronic signatures of the Scientific Committee members is equivalent to a paper certificate).
- £189 - digital certificate + paper certificate delivered by post.

➤ PASSIVE PARTICIPATION (LISTENERS):
- PLN 79 - passive participation + dispatch of a certificate bearing the digital signatures of the Scientific Committee members to the e-mail address indicated by the passive participant.

How should I title the transfer?

The title of the transfer should be formulated according to the following formula*:

" - active/passive participation fee (select appropriate) - 3rd National Medical Law Congress".

* Failure to comply with this condition may result in delays in the booking of the fee and consequently even exclude your participation in the Congress.

In the case of co-presentation by two or more speakers, we ask that each speaker pays the fee separately.

𝐏𝐔𝐁𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐀𝐂𝐉𝐀 𝐏𝐎𝐊𝐎𝐍𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐘𝐉𝐍𝐀
The organisers envisage the possibility of a publication, but this will depend on the number of authors willing to publish a text in a scientific monograph. The price for participation in the congress does not include the publication fee.

𝐅𝐀𝐐
- It is possible to receive a VAT invoice - please make a request in the registration form (subsequent requests may not be taken into account).
- If your participation is covered by your university (or other institution), it is suggested that you cover your participation yourself and be reimbursed by your university on the basis of an invoice issued to your university by the organisers (if in doubt, please contact the Conference Coordinator(s)).
- The fee paid is non-refundable (as it is equivalent to gaining the right to enter the conference).
- A link to the webcast (conference room) will be made available to registered participants within 24 hours before the start of the conference.
- It is possible for two or more participants to give a talk (the fee should be multiplied by the number of speakers).
- Speaking time is 10-15 minutes (depending on whether you are giving a solo or duet speech and the total number of speeches).
- Paper certificates will be sent by post within two months of the end of the conference (this applies to certificates sent within Poland).
- Digital certificates will be sent to *all* participants within a week of the end of the conference.
- Each participant will receive a certificate on the composition of the conference's Scientific Committee.
- Each participant will receive a certificate of academic society status from the Center for American Studies
- The time of the speech within the conference is determined by the Organiser (it is not possible to change the time of the speech set in the conference schedule).
