We would all agree with the statement that time spent with grandparents is priceless. An Oxford University study involving more than 1,500 children found that youngsters who maintain a strong bond with their grandparents experience fewer emotional and behavioural problems. However, an illness that can abruptly break this thread is stroke. According to the World Stroke Organisation, one in four people will suffer a stroke in their lifetime. In Poland, there are approximately 80,000 to 90,000 cases of stroke each year. One third of sufferers will remain permanently disabled and will not be able to spend time with their grandchildren and families as they used to.
