, 'Adequate patient nutrition is an integral part of treatment. By ensuring an adequate supply of nutrients, we can increase the tolerance of the treatment methods used, accelerate wound healing or reduce the risk of pressure sores.
When it is impossible, difficult or insufficient to feed a patient orally with a traditional diet, a nutritional treatment - such as enteral nutrition - should be implemented during the hospital stay. This is a medical procedure whereby a special diet is administered directly into the intestine or stomach via an artificial access. The continuation of enteral nutrition at home is financed by the National Health Service and the patient benefits from it free of charge."
