17 May is World Hypertension Day. On this day, the theme of "Wednesdays with Prevention" - an educational action of the National Health Fund, is hypertension. How can we prevent it and what can we do if our blood pressure is too high?
Take care of your health
From the report National Health Fund shows that as many as 10 million adult Poles have hypertension. Untreated hypertension can lead to, among other things, strokes, ischaemic heart disease, heart failure and kidney failure.
On World Hypertension Day, the National Health Service encourages people to check their blood pressure and reminds them of the possibility of taking advantage of the cardiovascular disease prevention programme (CHUK). The programme is aimed at people aged between 35 and 65. A list of establishments implementing the programme is available in the search engine Where to get treatment.
Measurements at the Prevention Kiosk
There are prevention and health promotion posts in the 16 provincial branches of the NHF. Adult Poles can perform in Prevention kiosk free measurements such as height, weight and body composition, blood pressure, and determine your BMI. The counsellor will show you the norms for each measurement, which preventive programmes are best to take advantage of and the offer of free DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) diet plans available at www.diety.nfz.gov.pl.
