Diabetes and obesity and summer temptations

In Poland, approximately 9.1% of the population have been diagnosed with diabetes. As many as 90% cases are related to preventable type 2 diabetes!

Type 2 diabetes has been described as an epidemic of the 21st century. It belongs to the group of diseases of civilisation, i.e. those determined by lifestyle.

The disease may not show any symptoms for many years, which is why it is still diagnosed too late, often in the event of a heart attack or stroke. Around one million people in Poland do not know that they have diabetes.

"Diabetes and obesity and summer temptations". This is the topic of the latest "Wednesday with Prevention" - a cyclical educational action of the National Health Fund.

What can we afford and what dietary mistakes should we not make?

Fruits, ice creams, desserts, which and how much can you eat to enjoy good health without extra pounds?

What should you know about summer sweets if you have diabetes?

We invite you to listen to an expert.

"The right diet has an impact on the treatment, but also on the prevention of diabetes. It is important that it is varied, full of vegetables and spread over several meals" -. says Ewa Dygaszewicz dietitian, diabetes educator.

In the prepared footage, the expert provides answers to questions such as:

How elevated blood sugar levels damage blood vessels and how to compose meals so that you don't snack but keep feeling satiated for longer.
