"Cytology is key" is the theme of today's "Wednesday with Prevention" - an educational action by the National Health Fund.
Poland has one of the highest incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in Europe.
Preventive examinations allow early detection of cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions, and effective treatments for cervical cancer at an early stage enable complete cure.
Unfortunately, many women still die. The main reason is that the disease is detected too late.
Cytology is the ticket to health, not disease!
- 95% cytology results show no pathology. 5% cases should be investigated further - explains in the video Prof. Dr. med. Mariusz Bidziński National Consultant in gynaecological oncology.
Why do Polish women give up visiting the gynaecologist? Is a bad cytology result a judgment? - Ida Karpinska President of the Cervical Cancer Organisation "Flower of Womanhood", shares her experience.
