'Children's Hospital of the Future' report - K.I.D.S. Foundation presents contemporary challenges and vision for transformation
Digitalisation, integrated care, telemedicine solutions or a focus on improving the patient and employee experience are examples of areas highlighted in the Children's Hospital of the Future" report prepared by the experts of K.I.D.S. During the year of its existence, the Foundation observed the situation of medical facilities in Poland and abroad. On the basis of the research and experience from the implementation of the first projects, a report was produced that identifies areas of change in hospitals and proposes modern solutions. In this way, a comprehensive vision of transformation was created, which at the same time sets the strategic directions of the projects that the Foundation will deal with.
Drawing on material from institutions such as the NIK, WHO and ECHO, their own experiences and in-depth interviews with young patients, their carers and staff in children's hospitals, the K.I.D.S. experts examined the most frequently identified problems, elaborating on the contemporary challenges of medical facilities. The transformation is ultimately intended to improve the experience of the patient, parent and hospital staff alike, so the report addresses various aspects of the different stages of treatment - from initial contact with the doctor and administrative issues to discharge home and recovery.
- Patient at the centre - designing the entire pathway of the patient's hospital experience with their physical and psychological comfort in mind.
- Digitisation - the use of technology to improve process efficiency and quality of care.
- Integrated care - close cooperation and involvement of all participants in the treatment process.
- Closer to home - extending care beyond the traditional hospital walls.
- Valued employer - creating a comfortable working environment
- Innovation centre - creating conditions for the development and implementation of changes in medical care
- Healthy organisation - building a sustainable management model, new revenue streams and a healthy cost structure.
The report in its entirety will be presented in August this year. It will present a comprehensive vision of the hospitals of the future, with a detailed analysis of the problems and a database of inspiring examples of innovative solutions and good practice from around the world.
"We hope that the report will stimulate discussion around the future of hospitals in Poland. At the same time, we want to inspire business leaders and technology companies that work in these areas to support the transformation. We have great medical staff, but the environment in which they work has not always kept up with the digital revolution. We are gathering leaders of change in children's hospitals around the Foundation. Together we can make a huge difference, felt by thousands of young patients."- says K.I.D.S. co-founder Tomasz Rudolf, day-to-day CEO of The Heart, the corporate builder that initiated the Foundation.
The Children's Hospital of the Future Report also aims to provide local and global examples of implemented innovations. "We are still collecting examples of changes already implemented and pilot projects transforming children's hospitals. Anyone who has implemented an innovation in a children's hospital in one of the 7 transformation areas we have identified can submit it to us and we will publish the most inspiring ones together with the Report." - adds Maciej Malenda, head of the team working on the report.
K.I.D.S. wants to build an international community of children's hospital innovators to exchange knowledge and create innovative projects together. That is why the Foundation is already announcing a series of webinars with medical and technology experts.
