4th edition of the Healthy Breathing campaign

Dear Readers, Today, 21 June, together with the daily newspaper The Republic The 4th edition of the Healthy Breathing campaign, organised by the publishing house Medical Media Solutions, is published. The publication has been produced with the support of many prominent experts. Its aim is to draw attention to important topics such as prevention, diagnosis and treatment in the field of pulmonary diseases. We want to emphasise the importance of self-monitoring and observing one's own health, as well as the impact the environment in which we live plays on our health. The theme of the issue is non-small cell lung cancer, which, despite a noticeable downward trend in smoking in society, is still the most commonly diagnosed cancer. Not long ago, the chances of survival with lung cancer were negligible. Nowadays, thanks to faster diagnosis, detailed testing for mutations and appropriately selected therapies, it is becoming a chronic disease. What the stages look like and why lung cancer is no longer a death sentence answer Prof. Joanna Chorostowska - Wynimko, Head of the Department of Genetics and Clinical Immunotherapy at the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Warsaw, Prof. Renata Langfort, Head of the Department of Pathomorphology at the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Warsaw, and Dr Adam Płużański, head of the Department of Pathomorphology at the Institute of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases in Warsaw. The Healthy Breath publication opens with a statement Prof. Dr. med. Władysław Pierzchała, President Elect of the Polish Lung Association, on the lives of patients with COPD, treatment options and the importance of early detection of the disease. The campaign cover features Dr. Piotr Dąbrowiecki, President of the Polish Federation of Asthma, Allergy and COPD Associations, for which we are particularly grateful. Dr Dąbrowiecki speaks extensively on the subject of allergy, including risk groups and methods to help allergy sufferers alleviate their symptoms. Allergy is a complex area that can manifest itself in more than one way. Moreover, having an inhalation allergy, we cannot exclude a connection with a food allergy. The so-called cross allergy and its interrelationships are discussed in the Prof. Zbigniew Bartuzi, President of the Polish Society of Allergology. In the publication Prof. Ewa Jassem, Gdansk University of Medical Sciences, was addressed on the topic of asthma. It is a very interesting article that talks about building awareness, prevention and risk modification options for this disease. To support the campaign, we invited Emilia Piotrowska from the Warsaw Smog Alarm, which is actively working to improve air quality in Warsaw and in Poland. The text addresses the very important issue of smog in summer. We invite you to read an extended online version of the publication: http://dbajozdrowie.info/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Zdrowy-Oddech_czerwiec-2018.pdf
