23 August - A day without camouflage

On Friday, 23 August, a nationwide, free educational and preventive action DAY WITHOUT CAMPAIGN will be held for the second time in Warsaw at Plac Zamkowy, between 11.00 and 17.00.which is also intended to encourage psoriasis sufferers to "shed" unnecessary clothing covering their psoriatic lesions on hot days.

- The idea for the campaign was born out of the need to create public awareness of psoriasis. Many people still live with the misconception that psoriasis can be contracted. This is the reason for the frequent stigmatisation of sufferers, their isolation and loss of work, as well as impaired participation in social life. - says Dagmara Samselska, president of the AMICUS Psoriasis and Psoriasis Foundation, organiser of the Day Without Camouflage event.

Psoriasis is a non-infectious, chronic inflammatory disease with a genetic and autoimmune basis. People with it are at increased risk of developing a number of concomitant diseases associated with the metabolic syndrome, including hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obesity and type 2 diabetes. More than 1 200 000 Poles are ill.

Thanks to an initiative involving a growing number of experts in the fields of medicine and psychology - relevant to the quality of life of people affected by psoriasis - participants in the event will have the opportunity to consult with dermatologists and cardiologists; learn about psoriasis treatment options and psoriasis prevention principles. Those wishing to attend will be able to have their nevi examined with a dermatoscope. There will be the opportunity to screen for comorbidities including diabetes, body composition testing, blood pressure measurement and find out what tests should be carried out when suffering from psoriasis. A dietician will advise on the right diet and a psychologist will provide support and guidance on how to tame the disease. Participants will be able to take part in a special open workout led by personal trainer Kamil Jasiński as part of the #ATOPSOactiv campaign.
