2021 Year of Patient Safety at the Office of the Patient Ombudsman

A time of pandemic, there were many difficult decisions and trade-offs, between the need for uninterrupted access to health services and the need to ensure patient safety. The COVID-19 epidemic became the most serious public health threat in many years. Today, we know much better the importance of providing safe care in complex, challenging and rapidly changing conditions.

"We want the patient not only to have real access to medical services, but also to feel safe during the entire therapeutic process," points out Bartłomiej Chmielowiec. For these reasons, the Patient Ombudsman has decided to focus on measures to increase patient safety in the health care system in 2021 and to emphasise this topic in the public discussion.
