PLN 1.4 million from DKMS Foundation for psychological support of haematological patients

The DKMS Foundation is beginning to accept applications as part of the 4th edition of the DKMS Foundation Grant. The project provides an opportunity for non-governmental organisations from all over Poland to obtain funds for the implementation of initiatives aimed at haematological patients and their relatives in the broad field of psychological support. The pool of funds to be distributed is PLN 1.4 million. Applications can be submitted from 10 December 2024 to 15 January 2025.

The DKMS Foundation is not only a Marrow Donor Centre, but also a public benefit organisation that works to improve the conditions and quality of treatment for patients fighting cancer and diseases of the haematopoietic system. The DKMS Foundation's grant has been in high demand since 2022, supporting projects that improve the psychological wellbeing of patients, both children and adolescents, as well as adults and their relatives. The project is part of the Haematology Development and Patient Support Programme, developed and implemented by the Foundation since 2018.

- The DKMS Foundation has been involved in activities for the benefit of haematological patients for many years, and the projects implemented by our partners thanks to the funds obtained from the DKMS Foundation Grant constitute an important element of psychological support for patients and their families. We have been very impressed by the quality and diversity of the projects submitted in the last three editions. Each of the selected initiatives has brought unique value to the process of supporting patients with haematological diseases, helping to improve their quality of life and psychological wellbeing. Observing patient organisations and being part of the community of people affected by oncological diseases, we see the real impact of the projects implemented. Thanks to them, patients and their relatives receive concrete support and necessary assistance in difficult moments related to treatment and the healing process. We invite you to apply, because together we can make a difference in the lives of patients. - says Ewa Visan, Head of Haematology Development and Patient Support, DKMS Foundation.

DKMS Foundation grant in numbers - three editions

The DKMS Foundation grant was initiated in 2022. Since then, the jury has awarded a total of 37 grants amounting to close to PLN 2.4 million, thereby supporting NGOs working on behalf of haematological patients. Initiatives included psychological rehabilitation, funding for specialist psychologists, the organisation of workshops, training courses and the preparation of educational materials to improve the psychological wellbeing of patients.

- The third edition of the DKMS Foundation Grants attracted record interest. Nearly 50 submitted projects testify to the growing social commitment and the need to extend support to people affected by haematological diseases. We can see how important it is to build a space where patients and their loved ones can count on comprehensive help at the most difficult moments of their lives - the adds Ewa Nawrot, Senior Coordinator for Patient Organisations, DKMS Foundation.
