Second edition of the project "Neurology and psychiatry counts time"

The second edition of the project "Neurology and psychiatry counts time" - is now available nationwide in the Rzeczpospolita Journal. This is a much-needed initiative that is once again being undertaken by the publishing house Medical Media Solutions. Once again, the watchword of the title is 'TIME' and we would like it to guide you through important neurological and psychiatric topics. Poles' awareness of prevention of neurological diseases is still low The publication opens with an introductory interview with Prof. Jarosław Sławek, President of the Polish Neurological Society, who points out that the revolution in neurology is really big and we also have a wide range of modern therapies. What is still lacking, however, is for the patient to become an active subject in diagnosis and treatment and to better understand the symptoms that threaten his or her health and life. The topic of diagnosis itself is also addressed in the project, because do you know the importance of autoantibodies in neurological diseases? Look for the answer to this question in the factual material Dr Iwona Kozak-Michałowska, MD, Synevo's Director of Science and Development. We are united by our concern for the future of multiple sclerosis patients Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the main theme of the title It would seem that unpredictability, relapses, rehabilitation, qualification for appropriate treatment are the only reality for MS patients, yet many of those currently receiving second-line MS treatment are waiting and appealing for an extension of treatment that is effective for them. The publication is also in support of these appeals, together we point out the benefits of the need for a positive decision to prolong treatment and raise awareness that time is of the essence. We also show that today we are beginning to talk about evaluating the lives of patients according to quality criteria, a sense of well-being. This undoubtedly links to the realisation of personal and professional plans of MS patients. Prof. Dr. med. Konrad Rejdak, Head of the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Lublin: The most important factor here is psychological. If the patient has to constantly wonder about the fate of a therapy that is effective for him or her, he or she is subjected to constant stress and this has a negative impact on the entire treatment process.  Dr Stanislaw Rusek, Neurologist at the L. Rydygier Hospital in Krakow: The appeals of the entire concerned community are justified here, because if we know from years of observation and use of this therapy that the patient responds to treatment for more than five years, we should not now expose him to risks that increase the frequency of episodes and lead successively to disability. Klara Naszarkowska, Patient with MS for 7 years: For me - probably not only for me - the most important thing is stability. Multiple sclerosis is volatility and uncertainty. You don't know what's going to happen not just next year, but even next week, tomorrow. Whether it won't start to tingle, hurt, take away your sight, your strength, your balance.  Tomasz Poeć, Chairman of the General Council of the Polish Multiple Sclerosis Society: It has long been said that the only limitation should be the effectiveness of the treatment. If the drug works - we continue the therapy.  Malina Wieczorek, President of the SM-WALK O SIEBIE Foundation: In the treatment of multiple sclerosis, all measures taken are directed at halting the progression of the disease to keep patients as fit as possible for as long as possible. Tomasz Iwaniuk, Patient: I hope that through my attitude I convey, especially to newly diagnosed but also healthy people, that it is possible and even necessary to live beautifully and with dignity with a serious illness. This LIFE is due to all of us. No matter what difficulties we have to face.  Prof. Mariusz Stasiołek, Department of Neurology, Medical University of Lodz: Due to the variety of possible symptoms and the multiplicity of potential causes, an interdisciplinary approach to the patient suspected of having a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system is often necessary already at the diagnostic stage, but also at the subsequent stages of care.. Psychiatry requires the attention of the whole system and environment  In the publication, we score the issues of psychiatric care for patients. The increasing prevalence of certain mental disorders is superimposed on another threat, which is related to difficult access to psychiatric care, due, among other things, to the insufficient number of psychiatric facilities, which are not always located close to the patient's place of residence.- a very important voice resounds in the campaign Prof. Dr. med. Marcin Wojnar, Head of the Department of Psychiatry in Warsaw. We also invited to the discussion Dr. n. med. by Grzegorz GoryszewskiPresident of the Allenort Group. We found the interview very inspiring and it shows what values should guide the organisation of proper care for patients with psychiatric disorders. Comprehensiveness, responsibility, professional ethics are the watchwords of our conversation. Where there is a doctor-patient relationship, where we are dealing with sick people, there should always be a high degree of responsibility.. - Dr Grzegorz Goryszewski tells us. We also invite you to the material Joanna Khatizov, President of the Board of Directors of the Association Actively Against Depression, who once again supports our activities - educating, raising awareness and explaining why we cannot let ourselves go crazy and what a threat depression is today. What is the reality for people struggling with an autoimmune disease? The publication would not have been possible without the voice and support of the patient organisations that have been supporting you and fighting for years to improve treatment and understand the needs of patients. Here, we particularly commend to you an interview with Tomasz Polec - President of the Main Board of the Polish Multiple Sclerosis Society and an article by Malina Wieczorek - President of the Foundation SM-WALCZ O SIEBIE. Charisma, but also great clout are the descriptions of Malina Wieczorek's actions, who herself is struggling with MS, which is why she agreed to become the face of the campaign and pos. We invite you to read all the material, the online version of the publication is available especially for you at the link: http://dbajozdrowie.info/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Neurologia-i-Psychiatria-liczy-się-czas_czerwiec-2018.pdf
