Chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is a disease characterised by a cyclic pattern of urticarial wheals and/or angioedema lasting at least six weeks, i.e. swelling of various parts of the body - eyelid, lip, cheek, foot or even larynx - with no known causative factor. CSU severely impairs patients' quality of life due to, among other things, persistent itching, pain or burning, occurring over several weeks to several years, with remissions and relapses. The level of functional impairment of patients with urticaria is very high and can be compared, for example, to those suffering from ischaemic heart disease. Patients are on sick leave and isolate themselves from their surroundings.
World Urticaria Day (UDAY) is a day when patients with urticaria are in the spotlight. UDAY is an opportunity to raise awareness of urticaria among patients, their families, doctors, politicians, the press and the world at large.
The AMICUS Foundation joins the global awareness initiative and puts the website www.pokrzywka.edu.pl in your hands. which is a comprehensive source of knowledge about urticaria. You will find information on the disease itself, diagnosis, therapy, but also psychological support, without which it is very difficult to cope with this disease.
