The 'HIV STORY' project initiated by the Institute for Patients' Rights and Health Education has been launched. It is intended to provide reliable knowledge about HIV, as well as to support people infected with the virus.<\/h2>\n

\"HIV STORY\" is a socio-educational project that was initiated by the Institute for Patients' Rights and Health Education and patient organisations working in the field of HIV and AIDS support. The aim is to provide reliable knowledge on HIV and AIDS, to popularise HIV testing and to break the taboo around HIV and AIDS. The project also aims to support people infected with the virus, as well as to integrate patient organisations working in this area.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

,,Until recently, it seemed that we had coped with HIV. The medical advances that have been made have allowed a change in thinking about the disease, which is no longer fatal. However, while medicine has dealt well with the virus, we still have not dealt with the virus on a societal level. HIV and AIDS are taboo topics, and people infected with the virus are still discriminated against and stigmatised. The lack of knowledge, in turn, causes most people to have the misconception that the problem does not affect them. Consequently, they do not perform the texts and live with the virus for many years, infecting more people. The latest epidemiological data are alarming - in just a few years, the number of infected people worldwide has doubled to almost 37 million. This is an alarm signal that cannot be ignored<\/em>\" says Rev Arkadiusz Nowak, President of the Institute for Patients' Rights and Health Education<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Within the framework of the project, the portal www.hivstory.pl was created as an information centre on HIV and AIDS. The portal is to gather in one place the most important information about the virus, given in a simple and clear form, to provide reliable knowledge about HIV and AIDS, and to gather in one place important information for people infected with HIV and their close ones. The educational projects conducted within the portal are to break the taboo around the disease by providing reliable knowledge about HIV and AIDS.
